Objective

Kermode Inc. teaches children to honor and value the earth with environmental education activity kits. The brand provides sustainable solutions and lots of inspiration to play with nature in easy, approachable ways. As a new company, Kermode Inc. needed an identity and instructional inserts that help define their brand and product.

 
 

CHALLENGE

As a growing company planning to introduce new products in the future, Kermode Inc. needed an identity that both defined their environmental and educational components and provided flexibility to grow and develop as a brand. The company’s first line of products launched in October of 2020, providing environment activity kits for pre-school students aged 3-6. The brand’s largely DIY foundation mandated a minimalist approach to packaging and production.

Approach

To create a sustainable and approachable brand, “Kermode Inc” is presented in a handwritten font featuring dominant and organic verticals that resemble tree trunks. The logo set is minimal to provide maximum flexibility as the brand continues to grow. The color palette is muted and reminiscent of the pacific northwest landscape, a reference to the Kermode Bear’s habitat which the company is named for.

Instructional Inserts

Printed on half-letter card stock, insert pages provide context for the sustainably sourced materials and instructions on how to use the activity kits. The black only design makes for easy production using at-home printers. Bryant Pro is used throughout the brand to provide a modern and educational voice.
